Do you know that you can now make money surfing the web and pointing out flaws in different websites and apps? Trymata (formerly TryMyUI) offers just that. So, I was quite tempted to try it to check whether TryMyUI is legit or not!
I previously published the User Testing review and TesterUp review, which are similar companies. But while these two are offering around $15 to $20/test, TryMyUI promises to pay up to $30. And that’s why the offer became even more tempting for me.
So, I tested it personally for a week to check how it works and how much I can actually make on this platform. Without any further ado, let’s get some insight into TryMyUI.

TryMyUI (Now Trymata) – Summary & Quick Facts
One thing I need to make clear before starting this TryMyUI review. After testing this site and comparing it with its current competitors, like User Testing, I can surely say it is among the best platforms to get paid to test websites and apps.
So, people looking for legit passive income ideas in the technical field need to try this!

TryMyUI (now revamped as Trymata) is actually a usability testing service for technical and SaaS products. But before I go deep, it’s time for some quick facts first!

Is TryMyUi Legit? Is It A Scam?

Source: Trustpilot
Yes, TryMyUI (aka Trymata) is a legit testing platform where you can get paid to test tech products, such as websites, apps, games, online tools, and SaaS. You can make up to $30 per test on this website, although the average payment is close to $15 to $20/test.
But there are other benefits to joining TryMyUI! This company offers testing jobs that don’t do drug tests. Besides, you are free to choose what you want to test and when you want to do it.
Trymata itself stated that they have conducted more than a million usability tests since its inception. Besides, it has recorded over five million testing sessions and analyzed over a billion user behaviors. They also claim to increase 40% in average sales to their clients.
My Take: There is no doubt that TryMyUI is a genuine and equally rewarding one. But it can’t generate a sustainable monthly income. So, consider this strictly as a side hustle, which will boost your monthly income.

What Is TryMyUI?

Source: Trymata
It is true that you can make money fast and easily on this platform. But while working on this TryMyUI review, I first tried to understand what this company is and what it is all about.
Ritvij Gautam and Tim Rotolo launched this platform in 2015 when they were just 21 years old. Then, Shruti Goli and Karthik Ravi joined the company as co-founders. And since then, there is no going back!
TryMyUI is actually a company that provides a testing platform for brands and establishments where they can test their tech products to get genuine feedback from real users. And on the other hand, testers get paid for their feedback.
When I checked their clientele, I was quite impressed. Some of their existing clients are as follows:

Source: Trymata
- US Bureau Of Labor Statistics
- University Of Illinois
- Amazon
- British Airways
- National Geographic
- Bose
- NBC
- Priceline
- Big Commerce
Besides these prestigious brands, there are hundreds of big and mid-level companies in their client profile. So, you don’t need to worry about the legitimacy of this testing panel.
TryMyUI also started acquiring other companies to expand its operation. According to their Crunchbase profile, they acquired Stitchology.ai in 2022 and then Consider.ly in 2023.

- Access to webcam, microphone, and headphones.

You don’t need any technical background to get started with TryMyUI, as anyone with a legal age can join it. All you need is basic computer proficiency to start testing digital products here.
Bonus: UserZoom is another company where you can also find high-paying testing opportunities. To know about their payment terms and how it works, check out my latest UserZoom review.

- Step 2: Click on the “Get paid to test” option on the header menu.

While entering your demographic profile and additional details, always remain truthful. This initial assessment will help you to find more suitable and tailored testing opportunities.
I also had to submit a few additional details while creating my account on TryMyUI, which are as follows.
- Gender
- Date Of Birth
- Country
- Total Household Income
- Highest Education Level
- Current Employment Status
- Current Family Status
- Number of children
- Community Status
- Usage of Social Networking Sites
- ZIP Code
It will be better if you go through their “Terms of Service” page to know what they track and what information about you they share with their clients.
My Take: You won’t get any signup or joining bonus on TryMyUI. But there are many such legit platforms available nowadays where you can just sign up and get money without doing much!

What Is TryMyUI Recorder?
While survey panels usually take feedback through questionnaires, testing panels work a bit differently. In TryMyUI, you need to record your entire session of testing with its own software called the TryMyUI Recorder.
You can directly download the recorder via this link. And it is available in Windows, MacOS, and Linux. It is a clean and lightweight software that I loved to use while working on this TryMyUI review.
I previously tried similar software while testing some online jobs that pay $20 an hour or more. And I found similarities in UI/UX. It is actually a screen recorder that records everything, including your screen and your voice.

What Are Tests On TryMyUI?
Most people can’t figure out if TryMyUI is a legit site or not, as they fail to understand what these tests are all about. This platform is actually among those websites that pay you real money for usability testing.
Once any testing opportunity is available on your demographic profile, you’ll receive an email from TryMyUI.
But these invitations are on a first-come, first-serve basis. And if you don’t participate in tests, you’ll slowly start receiving lesser and lesser testing opportunities. So, don’t delay once you receive an invitation.
According to Trymata, their clients usually opt for 4 to 6 tests on average. That means only the first six people, on average, get the actual opportunity in the sea of available testers.
You can’t consider this as a way to get instant signup bonuses and leave. You need to remain active here.
When I last checked, Trymata was offering the following testing opportunities.
- Live and staging websites
- Beta websites
- Competitors websites
- Mobile-friendly websites
- Apps (iOS & Android)
- APKs (Android)
- First Impression Test
- Web Prototypes (Hi-Fi & Lo-Fi)
My Findings: The availability of testing opportunities will directly depend on your demographics profile. People residing in the USA and Canada will have more opportunities than the rest.

Do I Need To take Any Qualification Test On TryMyUI?
No, you don’t need to take any qualification tests for individual tests. But right after your signup process, you need to take an initial assessment test. It is to check your efficiency and performance.
You’ll be first redirected to a 1-minute tutorial video on how to take the assessment test. This video is skippable. But if you need money now and want to become a successful tester, it is better to watch that video.
On the actual assessment test, you have to complete certain tasks within a 20-minute timeframe. You need to do the tasks honestly and as fast as possible, as your performance on this test will impact your actual profile on TryMyUI.

How To Complete A Test On TryMyUI?
There is no doubt that TryMyUI (now Trymata) is a legit website where you can make money without paying anything. But their tests can be a bit tricky.
You need to mainly submit two things, although additional requirements can be there in specific tests.
- Recorded Video: The recorder will automatically record your screen and your voice when you complete the task. So, you need to connect your microphone too.
- Post-Test Survey: You need to answer a short questionnaire (up to 4 questions) framed by the end client. This will be mainly your feedback.
Once you receive any testing invitation in your inbox, you need to accept it first. You need to then proceed with the task in the TryMyUI recorder. You can find the list of tasks under the “Task Script” tab.
But you must complete the task in the exact order given in the task script. A complete test can take around 20 to 30 minutes to complete. And after that, you need to answer the questions under the “Survey Questions” tab.
Every time you complete a test, your ranking and profile factor improves on TryMyUI.
The company, in this regard, stated, “You will not have a score or ranking until after you’ve started taking paid tests. Don’t worry that it says “NA” for now. We are just waiting to see how clients rate you on real tests.”
You can make money fast and easily on this platform if you follow the guidelines for testers.
- Read all instructions and steps loudly on your microphone from the beginning of your test. Make sure the recorder can record both your voice and the screen.
- Answer with the right intent and the right presence of mind. Be specific about your feedback. Don’t take an objective approach, as clients need direct and to-the-point feedback from testers.
- Complete tasks in the exact order found in the “Task Script” tab. If you jumble the steps, your testing results will be rejected.
Risk Factor: The end client can reject your test reports even after you complete it from your side. They mainly do it when the reports and feedback are not up to the mark or if the client thinks you haven’t delivered any valuable feedback.

How Much Money Can You Make On TryMyUI?
You can surely make PayPal money on TryMyUI, although how much you can actually make is the real question here! According to the company, you can make up to $30 per test.
But according to my own experience, this rate typically varies between $10 and $20 on average. And each of these tests will take around 20 minutes to finish. So, the simple calculation will suggest that your potential hourly income will be around $30 to $50.
Sadly, this is not the case! Testing opportunities are rare, and it is impossible to find and participate in three tests within an hour. In the beginning, you’ll receive one or two tests each week. And once you become a pro, you start getting up to 4 tests a week.
Your actual weekly income will be around $50 to $120, depending on how much money you are getting from each test.
While talking about the actual earning potential, TryMyUI stated, “This is definitely not full-time or even part-time work, but rather a way to make a few bucks doing something fun in your spare time.”
So, don’t count it as WFH online jobs. Rather, take it strictly as a side hustle where you can make a few extra bucks each month to pay off your utility bills.
My Earnings: I tested it for a week and received five invitations. Out of which, I completed three tests with an average payout of $15. And in one week, I’ve made $50. And at this rate, my monthly earnings will be around $200 to $250.

How Does TryMyUI Pay Its Users?
PayPal is the only mode of payment available on Trymata (formerly TryMyUi).
So, you can make PayPal money by testing websites, apps, and software here. And to receive the payment, you need to link your personal PayPal ID with your account during the sign-up process.
But don’t count it as free PayPal money, as you need to invest a significant amount of time on these tests. Besides, you need to file taxes if you are making more than $600 a year from this platform.
Payment Frequency: TryMyUI auto-pays all its users each Friday as they pay through weekly cycles. So, any amount on your account will be auto-transferred to your linked PayPal account every Friday.

Pros & Cons Of TryMyUi
There is no denying that TryMyUI is a legit platform. Its pay rate is way better than most competitors. Honestly speaking, I found their pay rate even better than some of the WFH companies that pay weekly.
But this platform, too, has its own advantages and disadvantages.
- Fast-paced and easy signup process.
- Minimum system requirement and lightweight recorder.
- Available in Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS, and Linux formats.
- Earn up to $30 per test.
- Available all over the world (but more testing opportunities in the USA).
- No minimum payout threshold. Easy payout through PayPal.
- Prompt and helpful customer support.
- Lots of positive reviews on rating platforms and social media.
- Hard to get more than four tests a week.
- A much higher test rejection rate than its competitors.
- Clients can reject it even after the tester submits the test report.
- Invitations can expire if the response is not prompt.
- A high-speed internet connection is needed for live video recording.
TryMyUI – Ratings & Social Media Presence

Source: Trustpilot
I personally believe that any good and legit company should have a good rating on different forums and rating platforms. If any company emphasizes customer and user satisfaction, it is bound to get good ratings.
So, I looked at different forums to know what people are thinking about TryMyUI. And here is what I found!
- BBB: A+ (Not Accredited)
- Trustpilot: 2.5/5 (17% 5-Star Review)
- G2: 4.3/5 (11 Total Reviews)
- Scam Adviser: 32/100 (Trust Score)
- Similar Web: 432 (Category Rank – USA)
- Google Play Store: 3.8/5 (1.72K Total ratings)
After checking their ratings, I also checked their social media status, as I personally believe that SMM should be implemented in any good company’s marketing SOP. And here is what I found!
- Facebook: 2.9K Likes – 3.2K Followers
- Instagram: 1.2K Followers
- Twitter: 4.2K Followers
- LinkedIn: 1.6K Followers
- YouTube: 1.9K Subscribers
My Take: TryMyUI (now Trymata) received mostly positive ratings on almost all the rating forums. Besides, their social media presence is also quite decent. I found most of their handles active and engaging.
TryMyUI – Users Reviews & Customer Complaints
Different people have different opinions about TryMyUI. While some people count it as a free money hack, many also count it as a legit side hustle.

Source: Trustpilot
So, I had a chat with fellow bloggers and scrolled through numerous reviews of existing and previous users to get an overall idea.
Here is what I found while making this TryMyUI review!
- Diane Moore on Trustpilot wrote, “I have been working with this company for about two months, and I really enjoy the work, the company, and the quick way that they pay.”
- Uberfunk1 on Reddit wrote, “I did a test once on my phone. It was ok, and I got paid. But I can never seem to get the test after receiving an email notification of a new test.”
- Rafael S on G2 wrote, “They are very serious in what they do. They are not playing around; it is a very good pay-per-review site with high standards that they make sure are always complied with.”
- Cliff Miranda on Google Play Store wrote, “Best user testing platform I’ve used to date. I’ve signed up with about 5 or 6 other sites so far, and none pay this well or send you tests so frequently.”
My Take: Most complaints that I found about this company are regarding the availability of tests. So, don’t depend on it if you want to get money right now, as it can be a time-consuming process to generate any income from TryMyUI.
Best Alternatives Of TryMyUI – Trymata Similar Sites
TryMyUI does pay up to $30 per test, although it is hard to get more than 3-4 tests a week on this platform.
However, if you sign up on similar sites where you can find equal opportunities, your earnings can significantly improve.
Here are my top recommendations for 2024:

Source: TesterUp
Besides these six, you can also try Userlytics, Clickworker, and PlaytestCloud. There are also short-task sites available where you can find equally rewarding opportunities.
Final Note – Is TryMyUI Worth Your Time?
Yes, TryMyUI (now Trymata) is a legit platform that is definitely worth your time. All you need is to invest one or two hours a week in this testing site to make around $200 extra each month.
However, don’t count it as an online job that pays daily, as the testing opportunities are very limited here. And it will depend entirely on your demographic profile.
It is good as a side hustle. But if you are looking to generate some steady income, there are jobs that pay up to $40/hour available that you need to try fast!

They don't pay you. I have completed 2 tests and still no payments months later (was supposed to be paid after a few days). When I contact support they just say they are experiencing delays with payments. Of course I have no recourse and don't expect I will ever get what I am owed. Steer clear of Trymata.
