But MyPoints has a much better reputation than other sites.
Not just surveys, you can do various tasks to make money here. Moreover, you can also get up to 40% cashback. And after knowing all these lucrative details, I took the task of testing it personally.

What Is MyPoints?
MyPoints is a website like Swagbucks where anyone from the USA and Canada can perform various tasks to make money.

Source: MyPoints
It was initially launched by Steve Markowitz as a reward-giving site way back in 1996. Fast-track it to 2016, Prodege LLC acquired it for a whopping $13 million.
Since that time, there has been no coming back.
Prodege is known for acquiring high-stake GPT companies, as they have already closed nine acquisitions according to their Crunchbase profile.
Currently, MyPoints is headquartered in California, while its principal operation takes place in both the USA and Canada.
My Findings: You must try MyPoints, Branded Surveys, and Survey Junkie altogether to maximize your earnings from secondary streams. I’ve already shared some tested Survey Junkie hacks which can boost your income.
How To Sign Up On MyPoints?
MyPoints is among the best short-task sites that I tried in my initial blogging days. You can make money without paying anything here.
The biggest benefit that MyPoints is currently offering is the instant signup bonus worth $5. And it is easy to claim it during the signup process. Here are the steps!

Source: MyPoints
- Step 1: Visit the official website of MyPoints.
- Step 2: On your right side, select your preferred signup reward between “$5 Amazon Gift Card” and “$5 Visa Gift Card.”
- Step 3: Enter your valid email ID and the desired password in the designated field.
- Step 4: Tick the box beside the “Terms Of Use” and “Privacy Policy” options.
- Step 5: Click on the “Join Now” button, and you’ll receive a confirmation email.
- Step 6: Open your inbox and click on the email to confirm it.
- Step 7: Visit the “Sign In” page and check with your ID and Password.
You’ll only get the $5 signup bonus upon email confirmation. So, don’t forget to verify your email ID to claim your joining reward.
My Findings: Not just the $5 signup bonus, you’ll also receive 1,750 bonus points (equivalent to approx. $10) if you spend at least $20 in shopping from its associated retailers within 30 days of joining.

10 Ways To Make Money On MyPoints
While working on this MyPoints review, I’ve tried all the available options for money-making on MyPoints. And in a broader horizon, there are ten ways to earn points on this platform.
1. Paid Online Surveys

Source: MyPoints
You can participate in paid online surveys for money through the survey portal of MyPoints. And you can make up to 2,200 points per survey, which is roughly equivalent to $15.
However, while I tested it, I mostly got legit survey offers that pay between 200 and 750 points (around $1 to $5).
However, these surveys took just 10 minutes to complete, including the qualification assessment. Even if you don’t get selected after a qualification test, you still get 5 points.
Besides the regular surveys, you can also find “Gold” surveys (with a star icon) in the “Featured” section of the survey panel. These surveys usually pay much more but also take a bit more time.
Note: MyPoints place “Red Herring” questions in between actual questions just to check if you are attentive or not. And wrong answering those questions can immediately disqualify you from the survey.

2. Shop Online

Source: MyPoints
This MyPoints review will be of no value without mentioning the cashback (in points) offers. There are two offers in the shopping portal of MyPoints.
The first one is a fixed offer where you can get up to 20 points in cashback for every dollar you spend. But on average, you make between 1 and 10 points in cashback.
The second one is a special one where you can make certain points for buying specific things from a specific store.
These are like Cash App boosts, where you can get great discounts and cashback offers to buy from your favorite online retailers.
3. Get Travel Deals
Traveling is a core expertise of the digital nomad community. Many new professions are emerging where you can get paid to travel.
To cater to that community, MyPoints provides various cashback offers (in points) for every dollar you spend on partnered travel portals and booking sites, such as Hotel.com, Orbitz, and Expedia.
Besides, it also offers points for your air tickets on American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Delta Sky, and many more.
You can get around 5 to 15 points on average for every dollar you spend on these travel deals.
My Take: MyPoints used to have dining deals for discounts in restaurants and cafes. But they discontinued the dining deals in 2021.
4. Complete Special Deals

Source: MyPoints
Besides the regular shopping deals, you can also find special deals in the “Featured” section of MyPoints.
These types of deals you can also find on apps like Mistplay, where you can make a certain number of points for doing a task.
When I was testing it, I found a DoorDash offer where you can make 10,000 points to become a dasher.
I previously tried similar deals on sites like InboxDollars. But MyPoints deals are far more rewarding than its competitors.
5. Get Coupon Codes
I’m a regular online buyer, as I prefer online stores over brick-and-mortar stores. And I found some amazing coupons while making this MyPoints review.
You can’t make money right now, but you can surely save a ton with these coupon codes.
From Amazon to Walmart, from Kroger to Target, you can find great coupon codes that can fetch up to 20% discount.
6. Play Games

Source: MyPoints
There are several dedicated gaming apps that pay through PayPal available in the online circuit. But these are uncommon in GPT or survey sites. But MyPoints is a bit different.
You can play exciting games on this platform from various genres, such as trivia, word guessing, puzzles, and many more. Besides, you can get cashback points for every dollar you spend on the in-game store.
However, you can also make money by playing games on other platforms, such as Slot Rush, Just Play, and Pool Payday.
My Take: I found more offers in MyPoints than some of the best gaming apps. The gaming collection on this platform is truly impressive.

8. Watch Videos
You can find videos and short clips from various genres in the “Watch” tab. Once you choose any category, just click on the “Discover Content” button to get a tailored list.
A countdown will run once you start watching any video. And you can’t close it before the countdown ends. After that, you need to rate the video with thumbs up or thumbs down. Each of these videos will give you between 5 to 20 points.
Bonus: You can now get paid to watch TV or even to watch movies in your free time. There are companies where you can also get paid to watch Netflix and other OTT sites.

9. Scan Receipts With Magic Receipts

Source: MyPoints
There are many companies like Fetch Rewards where you can get cash back by scanning the receipts of your recent purchases. And I found equal opportunities while working on this MyPoints review.
Just navigate to the “Shop” tab and then click on the “Magic Receipts” tab to access it. You’ll find a list of available offers. Pick all the items from that list that you’ll buy, and they will be stored in the “Your Shopping List” section.
Now, visit the store, buy those items that you have selected, and then scan the receipt of that purchase.
You can get around 2 to 10 points per item or per receipt. Besides the partnered stores, you can also get 2 points for scanning any receipt.

10. Surf The Web
Yes, it is very much possible to get paid to surf the web! You can find an in-built browser under the “More” tab on your dashboard. Every time you use the browser to search for something, you’ll make some points.
MyPoints occasionally also runs special offers where you can get more points by completing specific tasks in the browser, such as visiting a site or filling up an online form.
What Are Sweepstakes & Daily Polls On MyPoints?
MyPoints hosts sweepstakes, which you can enter by paying between 10 and 20 points. These sweepstakes can make you up to $50.
Besides, you can also take daily polls to get one bonus point each day just to participate. If you are fond of sweepstakes, you must incorporate this passive income idea.
What Is The BonusMail On MyPoints?
This MyPoints review will be incomplete without talking about the newest addition called BonusMail. Only a handful of people know that it is now very much possible to get paid to read emails.
These are promotional emails sent by MyPoints to its users. All you need is to open the email and click on the promo link. And in return, you’ll get 5 points per mail.
What Is The Daily To-Do List On MyPoints?
There is no debate that MyPoints is among the highest-paying apps that offer so many different types of money-making avenues. And the daily to-do list is the new addition to the crib!
You can receive 19 points in total each day by completing the tasks assigned on the to-do list. And there will be around nine tasks assigned each day on average.
For the first five tasks, you’ll receive one point for each task and five bonus points in total.
For the next four tasks, you’ll receive one point/task plus a five-point bonus, which sums up to 19 points in total.
Referral Program Of MyPoints
I’m a big-time advocate of referral programs, as it creates a passive income source that is sustainable in the long run. And there are now many legit platforms available where you can make money by referring friends to those sites.
You can just sign up and get money on MyPoints, and most people know about it. But I found the referral program while checking whether MyPoints is legit or not!
With this “Refer-A-Friend” program, you’ll receive 25 points for each referral who joins through your custom joining link.
And if your referral purchases at least $20 worth of stuff from partner stores, you’ll receive an additional 750 points/referral.
This is not all, as you’ll get 10% of lifetime earnings from your referrals. Besides, MyPoints also offers better schemes for people who invite more referrals.
What Is MyPoints Score?

Source: play.google.com
This is another new addition that I found while working on this MyPoints Review. “Score” is actually a browser extension of MyPoints that auto-applies discount coupons while you purchase anything from its partnered stores.
You can check all the available coupons in one place on this score extension. When I last checked, discount coupons were available for both Shein and Wish.

What Is The Current Value Of MyPoints Points?
The point system of MyPoints is a bit more complicated, as it doesn’t have any fixed value. Yes, the value of points on this platform changes depending on the payout method and the avenue you choose.
While one gift card worth $10 from a retailer can cost 800 points, the same valued gift card from another retailer may cost you 1,500 points. However, according to my own experience, $10 on MyPoints is equivalent to around 1,200 to 1,750 points.
So, one point equals approximately $0.005 to $0.0075 on average. But this conversion rate can vastly vary.
My Experience: Last year, it took 250 points to get a $3 worth of Amazon gift card. But when I checked it again in August 2023, it was priced at 480 points. So, almost double!
How Much Money Can You Make On MyPoints?
MyPoints suggests that you can earn up to 2,200 points per survey. But as per my own experience, most surveys will pay you around 150 to 250 points on average. And it is hard to complete more than two surveys daily due to availability.
You can opt for a maximum of 60 surveys a month. So, your earnings will be around 15,000 points from surveys. Besides, you’ll get up to 20 points for every dollar you spend on the shopping portal.
Let’s say you shop for $1,000 a month. So, your cashback will be around 20,000. And from other sources, you can make around 10,000 to 15,000 points on average. In total, it will be around 50,000 points/month.
Now, a dollar is equivalent to 175 to 250 points. And a $100 gift card can cost you up to 20,000 points. So, for the 50,000 points you make, your actual income will be around $200 to $300 a month.
My Take: Although this $200-$300/month is not enough to make a living. But it is surely among the best ways to make extra money on the side, with which you can pay off your utility bills.

How Does MyPoints Pay Its Users?
The payout option is something that really gives MyPoints an edge over its opponents. You can easily convert your accumulated points to any reward you prefer.

Source: MyPoints
And as of 2024, there are four ways to redeem points and get a payout on MyPoints.
- Get PayPal money to your linked account.
- Buy gift cards of online retailers, such as Amazon gift cards and Xbox gift cards.
- Purchase from participating online stores, like Amazon, Target, and Walmart.
- Convert to airline miles on your United MileagePlus account.
It is true that most legit GPT sites pay through PayPal. But the other options are really helpful if you don’t want to convert points to cash.
To get your money on PayPal, you need to verify your account first on the points redemption page. Your PayPal account should match the first and last name of your MyPoints account. It can take up to five business days to get it reflected on your PayPal account.
If you choose gift e-gift cards, it can take up to 10 days to receive them in your email ID. It can take up to 14 days to receive it through postal mail if you choose physical gift cards.

MyPoints – Ratings & Social Media Presence
MyPoints is a legit site, no doubt about it. But experience can be subjective, which I learned while having some money-making hobbies that I nurture regularly.

Source: Trustpilot
So, I searched through different rating forums to check how MyPoints performs there. Check what I found!
- BBB: NR (Not Accredited)
- Trustpilot: 4.4/5 (70% 5-Star Rating)
- Scam Adviser: 100 (Trust Score)
- Scam Detector: 95.6 (Trust Score)

- Twitter (X): 26.3K Followers
- Instagram: 26K Followers
- LinkedIn: 9.8K Followers (Prodege)
MyPoints – User Reviews & Customer Complaints
While making this MyPoints review, I also looked through different reviews and complaints available on public domains and open forums. But the reviews are mostly on a positive note.

Source: Trustpilot
- Pete E. on Trustpilot wrote, “In the past year, I have made between $300 & $400 in gift cards that I used on Amazon through the MyPoints program. I would say that is a success.”

Source: Reddit
- Eliot Pearson on Quora wrote, “Based on my knowledge and user feedback, yes, paid survey sites like Inbox Dollars and MyPoints payout. I received payouts from both Inbox Dollars and MyPoints.”
- Kristen Goen, on Google Play Store, wrote, “Great app. I’ve been a member of MyPoints for almost ten years now, and I have redeemed my points several times for gift cards to some of my favorite retailers.”
My Take: I mostly found positive reviews on different forums. Most complaints that I found were regarding points redemption. But customer support is quick to resolve those.
Best Alternatives Of MyPoints – Similar Sites
I can personally vouch for MyPoints as it is among the most legitimate platforms that I could find. But yes, there are a few other options also available where you can do similar things to make money.
Here are my top recommendations…
- Swagbucks
- InboxDollars
- Survey Junkie
- Vindale Research
- Survey Voices
- Survey World
- eSurveyBox
- KashKick
Besides these eight options, you can also try Opinion Outpost, Branded Surveys, MySoapBox, and Pinecone Research, especially if you love participating in online surveys.
Final Note
Throughout the testing phase, while making this MyPoints review, I encountered some minor issues. Customer support was prompt in resolving those, which was quite helpful.
So, you can surely give it a try if you are looking for some side income sources to become your own boss.
But don’t rely on it for full-time living, as it will be really hard to make over $200 a month from MyPoints alone.
